What was it all about?
This particular fundraiser worked as a "kickoff" to us officially breaking away from our parent organization (EPNIA- thank you for all your help and support since 2020!) and becoming our own official non-profit!
Where did the Shoes Go?
Athletic Shoes
Part of Fundraiser. Paired athletic shoes were sent to GotSneakers. This organization provides money for each pair of used shoes collected, with the goal of keeping sneakers out of the landfill and/or reusing quality pre-loved sneakers for those in need. Sneakers that were heavily used and/or damaged were recycled into reuse materials or converted waste to energy.
Non-Athletic Shoes
For shoes collected that were singles and/or non-athletic shoes, the CRM sorted and redistributed locally to various missions as well as thrift stores around town. Anything left over was donated to Soles4Souls which is an organization that 1) helps get shoes and clothing to people in crisis situations; 2) partners with community-based nonprofit organizations to empower entrepreneur women in developing nations; 3) partners with schools across the U.S. to provide athletic shoes to children experiencing homelessness.
